This is complete BS. There is no diplomacy. No one trusts a word we say in any case, which is a prerequisite to *begin* diplomatic engagement. 

So when WSJ reports Trump told “aides” he wants to give diplomacy more time, he really means his military experts have told him there is no path to success if he restarts the war and he’s unable or unwilling to take off-ramps. Instead, he just refuses to make a decision, keeping everyone in uniform on a knife’s edge for war. 

The president boxed himself into this corner and now doesn’t know how to get out.
