t President Trump has set a standard to where he can’t give anything, and only wants to demand everything (which Iran is in a position to resist bc they can outlast us).

These “red line“ demands amount to a guarantee there will be no negotiated outcome. Iran is categorically opposed to submitting to any of those demands, and has a whole list of requirements of their own, that we are not going to accept either. Therefore, that leaves the US administration the realistic dilemma of accepting one of two outcomes: One, a return to choosing combat operations, along with all the profound cost that would levy upon us all, or Two, engaging in genuine diplomacy, where we give something to get something. But President Trump has set a standard to where he can’t give anything, and only wants to demand everything (which Iran is in a position to resist bc they can outlast us). He is therefore dooming America to the worst of all outcomes, forfeiting the one option he does control that could bring this ugly affair to an end (choosing a diplomatic solution that is acceptable to both parties).
