The Dream tells him it's his fault.

You said there's nothing wrong with the American Dream.
I'm not saying the dream of a dignified life is wrong.
I'm saying the framing of it as individual is a weapon.
Because a man who believes his poverty is his personal failure will not organize.
A man who believes his poverty is a systemic outcome of deliberate policy will look for the people responsible and start asking inconvenient questions.
The Dream tells him it's his fault.
The analysis tells him whose fault it actually is.
The people whose fault it actually is invested heavily in making sure he heard the Dream and not the analysis.
That investment is not a coincidence, my friend.
That is the point.
