The american nightmare, Brzezinski wrote, was that Russia would get together with Germany and with Western Europe, creating russian raw materials, german industry, and somehow, finally, Russia would become westernised.
And yet Russia has morphed into a much bigger nightmare – soverign economically and militarily a rising superpower all thanks to the existential imperative brought to you by the brain trust of men like Brzezinski. They did manage to succeed in the controlled demolition of Germany, for now. But that too may well change.
