The ones who regularly bomb Syria without a UN mandate. The ones who tore up the nuclear deal, imposed criminal sanctions, starved an entire people. And it is not the first time. Since 1953, the United States has been destabilizing Iran, overthrowing its democratic government, supporting the Shah's dictatorship, arming Saddam Hussein against it, and now threatening it with war. So, Madam, is Iran attacking its neighbors? Or is it defending itself against predators who give it no respite?

Look at the facts: not a single country neighboring Iran (Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan) has been invaded by Iran. On the contrary, Iran has been the victim of chemical warfare (Saddam, backed by the West), state terrorism (MEK, funded by the West), targeted assassinations (Israel), cyberattacks (United States), and sabotage of its nuclear infrastructure (Israel). So, Madam, before lecturing others, look at your friends. They are the attackers. Iran is merely defending itself. And it is right to do so.

As for the straits, you want them to be free? But the Suez Canal and the Panama Canal are toll waterways, aren't they? So why should you be exempt? Because you are Europe? Because you have a diplomatic credit card? No. You will pay, like everyone else. And if you refuse, do not cry when Iran reminds you that the sea belongs to no one, least of all to your military.

We need a deal that truly de-escalates the conflict, reopens the Strait of Hormuz and guarantees toll free full freedom of navigation.
