Iran Files ICJ Lawsuit Against the U.S. Over Military Aggression and Sanctions Iran has taken its case to the International Court of Justice, formally accusing the United States of unlawful military force, economic sanctions, and threatening armed action during active peace negotiations. The filing invokes some of the most serious categories in international law. Aggression ranks alongside genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes as one of the four gravest offenses a state can commit. International law is dead, so this is more symbolic than anything.
