The Iranian reaction here was as predictable as the sun coming up in the east.
President Trump has been lying to the American people and the global public since this war began, and his TruthSocial this morning was just the latest iteration of those lies: he did not coordinate anything with the Iranian side, and they have not agreed to any of the terms he claimed in that post.
Iran has been adamant that there are some non-negotiable requirements that they have to have up front (because of the absence of trust between the two sides), and those are primarily:
a) the immediate release of $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets;
b) sanctions relief on Iran’s energy sector;
c) that they will retain administrative control of the SOH;
And apparently as important as all of this:
d) Israel must completely end its war against his Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
If the United States does or assures all those things, then Iran is willing to enter into a 60 day period to negotiate the nuclear issue, but they have been emphatic that they will not address that until phase 2.
That is directly contradicted by President Trump‘s TruthSocial this morning, and therefore the two sides are not even operating on the same planets. In such a condition, there is no hope for a settlement of this war, and the risk of return to active combat remain remains high.
