If this is the president’s ham-fisted way of signaling that he’s about to order the resumption of the war of choice with Iran, it will likely b regarded as the worst presidential decision in a century of American history. The arrogance of believing that we can bludgeon opponents with missile and naval power and blast them into oblivion will most likely sink us instead. There is no military solution to the problem of wresting control of the Strait of Hormuz from Iran. To try will only spawn a major counterattack on our bases and our regional allies’ energy (and possibly water facilities), gashing global oil supply for up to years - likely plunging us all into a global depression. I plead with the president not to do this self-defeating thing. Instead, do the “walk away” plan as the least of all bad options.
