Jews lived under Islamic governance for centuries with considerably more safety than they experienced in Christian Europe.

The Inquisition was not in Baghdad.

The pogroms were not in Cairo.

The Holocaust was not organized in Damascus.

The modern conflict begins with the Balfour Declaration, with British colonial policy, with the specific political project of Zionism arriving in Palestine in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.
