 29 House Democrats just sent a letter to the Trump admin demanding they publicly acknowledge Israel's nuclear weapons program.

That's a direct challenge to 50+ years of bipartisan U.S. policy.

Washington has known about Israel's arsenal since the late ‘60s and has chosen, deliberately, to never say so out loud. 

It’s called “nuclear opacity,” and it allows the U.S. to maintain strategic cooperation with Israel while avoiding a confrontation with Arab states.

If acknowledged, the NPT framework the U.S. uses to pressure Iran, North Korea, and others would lose credibility overnight. 

And any future arms control negotiations in the region start from a completely different baseline.

So Democrats are essentially handing Trump a diplomatic grenade and asking him to pull the pin.

He won't. But the fact that 29 members of Congress are willing to go there publicly tells you how much things have changed.
