Trump administration has branded its coercive economic measures with a name evocative of a military operation (i.e. Economic Fury)
Economic warfare is military conflict by other means. It makes no sense to pursue a cessation of hostilities while simultaneously intensifying economic pressure.
The fact that the Trump administration has branded its coercive economic measures with a name evocative of a military operation (i.e. Economic Fury) only confirms this mindset.
Iran would rightfully interpret such economic warfare as a sign of bad faith and as clear evidence of U.S. intent to keep the underlying conflict alive, only to escalate it at a later date.
