One might think this is a bizarre logic, that the US Secretary of State demands military support from a NATO Ally when no article 5 has been initiated. But it actually reveals something even worse: An imperial mindset in which the United States believes everyone owes us whatever we want, even if it’s against their own national interests, and we demand that they come and join us in an unwinnable war - and are genuinely surprised when they don’t obey! Europe may be feckless, and they may have some incredibly weak leaders, but they’re not suicidal, and at the end of the day, they’re still politicians who want to get reelected. Plunging into a war that’s already lost is not very high on the agenda of many voting populations!
