Trump reportedly thinks this will help break the negotiating deadlock. Spoiler: It probably won’t, and Iran’s retaliation is likely to be more severe if critical infrastructure is targeted, plunging the region into an even more dire crisis and dragging the US even deeper into the quagmire. The neocon solution to every problem is dropping more bombs, and if history is anything to go by (it is), this will end disastrously.
