Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran:
"We previously conveyed this to the US, also through the Swiss Embassy: If you attack Iran, we will target all your capabilities in the region. Perhaps they didn't believe it. We also told our friends in the region that we have no intention of attacking you; our target is the US presence.
Our friends and neighbors should know that Iran has never been an aggressive country. When Saddam attacked Iran, did we start the war? In those circumstances, most of the countries in the region sided with Saddam, but we did not retaliate. That is Iran; it is the same today."
