And here is the paradox of unintended consequences: — The goal of this attack was to remove Iran from the ranks of the confrontation states so as to make the Middle East ‘China proof’. — Now there is a real chance that, once the US gets pulled in deeper and exhausts its magazine as General Caine warned, it will undermine deterrence in Asia. China will simply conquer Taiwan instead of missing this golden window of opportunity. Such are the risks you run when you gamble on mass violence.
