Trump has reportedly expressed growing frustration with the length of the Middle East conflict, telling top generals he is “getting tired” of the ongoing war with Iran and asking why a definitive Iranian surrender has not yet happened. Despite the Pentagon announcing that U.S. forces have been “unleashed” with orders not to stop until the enemy is destroyed, the war is becoming more complex and difficult to end quickly. The U.S.–Israeli alliance has struck major Iranian infrastructure, including the Air Force headquarters in Tehran, but Iran has responded with powerful retaliation. Under new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran has launched massive missile waves targeting Israel and the UAE, while also striking critical oil facilities in Bahrain, widening the conflict across the region. At the same time, the global economic situation is worsening. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has triggered what the Wall Street Journal calls the worst energy crisis since the 1970s, while Gulf allies like Saudi Arabia and the UAE are reviewing financial agreements with Washington.
