SITREP: IRAN WAR, 0930 CET MAR 2 2026 What has happened the last 24 hours in the war? 1, A clear sign that the US-Israeli attacks failed to achieve it's goals was Trump's statement that the war probably would continue for 4 weeks, not 4 days as he has said earlier. 2, Clarification has arrived about the timing of the attack. According to Rubio Israel intended to attack Iran. The question was if the US should participate in the initial strike or wait until Iran retaliated against US assets in the region. Trump decided to participate, even though negotiations were still ongoing. 3, The structure of power in Iran remains intact, even though a number of leaders were killed in the initial decapitation strike against Iran that killed the Supreme leader Khamenei. A three man Council has temporarily replaced Khamenei while the 88 man strong council of Elders elect the new Supreme leader. 4, Despite US claims that Iran want to resume negotiations Iranian leaders have publicly refuted these claims and said there will be no new negotiations. 5, Both sides continue attacks without cessation on the same level as earlier. Iran and its allies has struck most of their neighbouring countries, including neutral Oman and European NATO-allies to the US as France (in UAE), Italy (in Kuwait) and UK (in Cyprus). Iran has also struck five tankers, including one British, near the Hormuz strait. 6, The US and Israel has continued it bombing campaign against Iran. Large parts of the Iranian navy has been sunk and the Iranian Air defence is clearly reduced. A sign of this is the western use of MQ-9 Reaper drones over Iran. These drones are easy targets with a well functioning Air defence, but useful when they face little Air defence. 7, Hizbollah has attacked Israel and Israel is responding with massive attacks on targets in Lebanon. The attack on a British air base on Cyprus might also have been made by Hizbollah. 8, Israel has got its first major casualties both 10+ killed by an Iranian ballistic missile and 10+ killed in the Hizbollah attacks. 9, First confirmed US casualties are 3 killed in Kuwait. One F-15 fighter jet was also shot down over Kuwait, probably by friendly fire. 2 MQ-9 reapers has also been downed over Iranian territory. Many Iranian hits on the US base in Bahrain. Very little Air defence meeting the Iranian strikes there. Air defence resources might be depleted. 10, Oil and Gold prices are up nearly 10%. Brent oil is now at 80 $. It might reach anywhere between 100-150 $ if the conflict drags on. Gold prices are also up to new record levels at 5414 $ per oz.
