What strikes you over and over again is while Iran has acted with restraint and given a reasoned account of its actions and motivation and result it seeks, the US is unhinged as it lunges back and forth, shifting goals, threatening Armageddon, committing war crimes and making promises it can’t keep, like escorting ships thru the Straight of H. Despite enormous reputational damage, 5 Eyes have cranked up. If ever the stupidity of this alliance was to be apparent, it is now. This is heading into a war that may ultimately become a hot war between more countries involved in previous world wars. We are still dividing the world by skin colour and past imperial allegiance. Can you imagine a teacher in a classroom resolving all fights between children based on the teacher’s favourite? You would not put up with it. So why do we do it on the world stage where the stakes are so high? The only reason more people are not engaged with this question is because the wars are not here, or in the US or in Canada or the UK. That is why we have blowback. It’s the only option they feel is left for them.
