These bombs were used in & around Gaza City last spring & summer. I wrote about them - even on Twitter, but they are just getting attention now? Perhaps Al Jazeera’s report is the 1st independent confirmation.
These “vacuum” bombs are more terrible than people realize - they suck in oxygen & collapse structures around them. Reports on them discuss how they cause pulmonary contusions & hemorrhages in the lungs, they rupture eardrums & ‘hollow’ organs like intestines, cause severe traumatic brain injuries, horrible burns & asphyxiation among other horrendous wounds if their victims are not first instantly incinerated.
Overpressure, extreme heat, & oxygen consumption annihilate anything in their immediate radius.
The first charge within these bombs releases a highly flammable aerosol which is ignited by a second charge.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we’d spend as much time & money banning these monstrous weapons from the face of the earth rather than building such apocalyptic creations in the first place?
