After Israel occupied Gaza & the West Bank in 1967, then Israeli Prime Minister Levi Eshkol met Roberto Bachi, an Israeli statistician & demographer who later won the Israel Prize.
During the meeting, Bachi warned Eshkol about a "shocking situation."
Namely, that infant mortality in Gaza was on the decline. A grim reality because it would mean more Palestinian babies.
