New revelations show that Netanyahu was aware that Hamas was planning a massive operation and had the capability to pull it off as early as 2018. That year Israeli intelligence provided Netanyahu with a detailed Hamas invasion plan—codenamed “Jericho Wall”—which outlined a large-scale attack involving thousands of fighters, hostage-taking, and assaults on military and civilian targets.
Despite receiving this document, Netanyahu later claimed: “The Prime Minister never received or was briefed on the ‘Jericho Wall’ document… It was never presented to him that such a plan existed.”
Yet the same document noted Hamas had “a basic capability to carry out simultaneous raids” and represented a “unique and broader threat scenario than before.”
A senior Israeli intelligence official summarized the failure bluntly: “Even if military commanders failed… the Prime Minister’s responsibility was to demand answers about Hamas’s intentions. Netanyahu did nothing.”
As evidence continues to mount that Netanyahu know this attack was coming, the question remains: why didn't he prevent it? Could have have wanted it to happen?
