Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov says Moscow will push internationally for the crimes committed by Nazi Germany and its collaborators against Soviet civilians to be formally recognised as genocide.
The clear aim is to place those crimes on the same moral and legal level as the Holocaust (as a crime of genocide, not just wartime atrocities) and to secure that recognition globally.
