Frances 'Cassandra' Coppola
While the Nazis' attempt to exterminate European Jewry is uniquely horrific, it is wrong to ignore or downplay the Nazis' genocide of other peoples. The Nazis killed nearly 6 million Soviet civilians, 3 million Soviet prisoners of war, and 2 million Catholic Poles. They exterminated half the global population of Roma. They murdered gay and trans people, and sent disabled people to gas chambers. It is not "abuse" to remember the non-Jewish victims of the Nazis, and nor is is it disrespectful or hurtful to Jewish victims and survivors. On the contrary, if "never again" is to mean anything at all, we must remember them and vow never to allow such atrocities to be repeated for any group of people.
