The truth is that MI6 created the Muslim Brotherhood in 1928 in Cairo, Egypt, recruiting from schools that were set up in the 1880’s by the British government after Evelyn Baring was appointed Comptroller General of Egypt, because Egypt defaulted on its payments for the loan that financed the construction of the Suez Canal. (Baring’s appointment was when Egypt formally became part of the British Empire.)
The schools were set up by Baring under the auspice of welfare and public education, but in reality the curriculum was set by Rashid Rida— a Salafi cleric who embraced views of Islam that were considered so fringe and radical that he was ostracized by the Muslim community. Rida was given a salary by the British government and tasked with radicalizing the children of Cairo— which Americans have seen, firsthand, only takes a generation of indoctrination to accomplish.
