The imperial boomerang has truly come home. The same forces and practices violating the human rights of people in Palestine and across the global South have now been unleashed on all of us living in the West. Even as the US-Israel Axis leaves a trail of blood across the globe, here at home, people are being surveilled by the state, sanctioned, expelled from school, fired from jobs, beaten and arrested by police, abducted by ICE, deported, and slandered by the government, just for defending human rights and speaking out against the Israeli regime and its US-funded apartheid and genocide. Now a rogue federal militia is terrorizing and murdering people in the streets. We are living in the belly of a beast that threatens to devour the very idea of human rights at home and abroad. The beast is buttressed by two corrupt parties, complicit media companies, corporations, tech oligarchs, billionaires, and ruthless lobbies. Most of all, it is buttressed by the apathy, ignorance, and inaction our neighbors. The hour is late. But the victory of tyranny over justice is not inevitable. This is our 1930s moment. Read history. Find courage. Resist this.
