The country that dropped nuclear bombs on civilians has no moral standing to lecture others on restraint. The country that overthrew governments in Iran, Guatemala, Chile, Congo, Indonesia, and beyond does not get to brandish "democracy" as a club.

Notice how fast you had to leave reality.
I mention the only country that has ever dropped nuclear bombs on civilians.
You answer with a fantasy about Iran nuking Tel Aviv.
You need an imaginary Iranian crime to avoid looking at a very real American one.
You even smuggle in the script in advance:
"If Iran attaches a nuclear warhead… Sony will blame Israel… another terror enclave… Hamas… Judea and Samaria…"
None of that has happened.
What has happened is Hiroshima.
What has happened is Nagasaki.
What has happened is eighty plus years of the one nuclear power that actually used the bomb telling everyone else they are too irresponsible to ever have one.
You call that "saving lives."
Hiroshima and Nagasaki did not happen in a vacuum.
Japan was already strategically defeated.
Its navy was broken.
Its cities were firebombed.
Its supply lines were strangled.
Its government was looking for a way out that would not end in total humiliation.
Even within the American establishment there were generals and admirals who said the bomb was unnecessary, that Japan was already finished, that the real message was meant for Moscow.
You erase all of that and repeat the old line: "We incinerated two cities full of civilians to save a million lives."
You realize what that logic admits, right?
It admits that, in your moral universe, some lives are chips you can burn on the table as long as you tell yourself it reduced the size of the pile later.
That is not a defense of life.
That is an admission that you are comfortable with mass murder as a policy instrument, as long as your side writes the estimate.
Then there is this line:
"The U.S. saved China and Russia in WW2."
Saved them how, exactly?
The Soviet Union lost more than twenty-six million people crushing the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front.
China bled for eight brutal years under Japanese occupation, with the Chinese people absorbing a scale of suffering Americans still cannot imagine.
Yes, the U.S. industrial base and Lend-Lease mattered.
Yes, the Pacific War mattered.
None of that turns Russia and China into rescued children eternally indebted to a savior.
And even if the U.S. had "saved" them in the uncomplicated way you fantasize about, that still would not grant it a permanent license to impose sanctions, topple governments, and threaten genocide with air power for the next century.
Favors do not retroactively legalize future crimes.
You throw in "standard Marxist litany" because you do not want to engage with the content.
There is nothing especially Marxist about saying:
The country that dropped nuclear bombs on civilians has no moral standing to lecture others on restraint.
The country that overthrew governments in Iran, Guatemala, Chile, Congo, Indonesia, and beyond does not get to brandish "democracy" as a club.
The country that backed Suharto, Pinochet, apartheid South Africa, Israeli occupation, and death squads across Latin America is not a neutral referee of human rights.
That is not a "litany."
That is a record.
You end with opinion polling:
"Most Japanese favor the USA over the criminal mafia running China."
Opinion polls do not edit history.
You can have a population that likes American pop culture, enjoys the alliance, and still live in a world where tens of thousands of their grandparents were boiled alive in firestorms that your side still calls "saving lives."
That is exactly how empire works.
It kills you, then offers you security against the next threat.
It destroys your sovereignty, then offers you a junior place under its umbrella.
It rewrites the story so that you forget who flipped the first switch.
So let me bring it back to the original point.
No terrorist organization ever dropped nuclear bombs on civilians.
Only America did that.
And instead of saying "yes, that was a crime against humanity and we should never again lecture anyone about restraint," you come back with:
"What if Iran nukes Tel Aviv one day."
"We saved China and Russia."
"We saved a million lives."
"The real problem is Marxists."
You are not defending morality.
You are defending the idea that your side’s violence will always be rebranded as necessity, as rescue, as lesser evil.
That is exactly why the rest of the world no longer buys it.
