Iran files formal UN complaint against Trump over US threats and calls for riots —— Iran has formally lodged a complaint with the United Nations against US President Donald Trump, condemning his recent statements that threaten military action and encourage protesters to seize state institutions. In a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Security Council President Samuel Zbogar, Iran’s Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani called Trump’s remarks reckless, saying they openly incite violence and undermine Iran’s sovereignty and security. The letter noted that Trump’s rhetoric follows a pattern of escalating intervention, including repeated threats of force, economic sanctions, and support for unrest among Iranian citizens. Iravani stressed that these actions violate fundamental principles of international law, including the prohibition on the threat or use of force and non-intervention in internal affairs. He also placed the remarks in the context of last year’s war against Iran, Israeli attacks on Iranian targets, and US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. Iran emphasized that recent economic protests, while legitimate, have been deliberately exploited by foreign actors, including the United States and Israel, to destabilize the country. Armed groups supported by Washington and Mossad reportedly carried out violence, causing civilian and security casualties. Iravani warned that these attempts to provoke chaos are part of a broader campaign of regime change and political destabilization.
