The irony writes itself. When TikTok was Chinese-owned, Washington screamed “national security threat” because America needed to protect its freedom. Now TikTok is under a US-controlled structure… and suddenly Americans are discovering that the only people who ever censored them this aggressively weren’t in Beijing, they were in California and DC. So the platform is “unsafe” under China because it might censor political speech, but becomes magically “safe” under the US while actually suppressing posts critical of the sitting president? That’s not a glitch, that’s what happens when propaganda finally loses its foreign villain and has to show its domestic face. The funniest part: China never needed to control TikTok to silence Americans. America only needed to control TikTok to silence Americans. Freedom, apparently, was the feature… until the wrong users tried to use it.
