Isn't it ironic?
For years, haven't Western leaders and media thundered about China's "social credit system" (a dystopian score punishing dissent, banning travel, ruining lives)? A totalitarian horror, they cried. Yet what is China's system, really? Fragmented blacklists for debts and regulations, mostly businesses (no omnipotent personal score, as experts confirm).
Now look closer to home. Who sanctions Western analysts like retired Swiss colonel Jacques Baud, French strategist Xavier Moreau, or journalists Thomas Roeper and Alina Lipp (freezing assets and imposing travel bans simply for questioning official narratives on Ukraine)? The EU, accusing them of "pro-Russian propaganda."
Who debanks ordinary Russians (dual citizens, long-term residents) ,freezing assets or blocking accounts over CHF 100,000 simply for nationality ? EU-aligned Switzerland and banks across the bloc.
Under the Digital Services Act, platforms over-remove dissenting content to avoid massive fines.
This isn't fiction (it's a live experiment on "Russia-friendly" or "Gaza-friendly" voices). Most stay silent. What seemed unthinkable yesterday (collective punishment by passport or opinion) is today's reality.
So tell me: who is building the true social control system? The accused villain in Beijing... or the self-proclaimed guardians of freedom in Brussels?
They warned us about a phantom in the East while quietly installing the real thing in the West.
