Israel has destroyed Gaza’s ancient heritage during the genocide, burning the city’s historical archives. Among the treasures erased was the Great Omari Mosque, built in 636 AD.
The region has witnessed many wars, invasions, and conflicts in the 1400 years since the Omari Mosque was built. But no foe was ever of such degenerate morals and depravity as Israelis that they’re target it. And it’s not the only cultural heritage site. They targeted the Church of St Prophyrius, one of the oldest churches in the world, built during the crusades, along with archeological sites and museums.
I suppose it’s because Israel is quite literally a modern invention (less than 80 yrs old) lacking real heritage; so that which belongs to the indigenous people must really bother them.
