As Israel becomes less and less relevant, as it implodes as a state and a society, its supporters grow rude, hurtful and obnoxious. That is the only recourse left for the redundant. This is chatter meant to obscure (or to mourn). Still, noise obscures and blurs. This is what I fight for:
1. An end to the genocide and the ethnic cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank. Israel must be clearly stopped and made to abide by international law. This includes Israeli violations of sovereignty in Lebanon and Syria.
2. Life for the Palestinian people. Not just the cessation of death - life. Food, water, schools, hospitals, homes. Life as human beings.
3. An end to the immoral weaponization of antisemitism in response to moral, justified criticism of Israel's crimes. The dehumanization of the Palestinians necessary for this strategy is Israel's unique contribution to the universal vocabulary of genocide (think "wall of dead children"). The denunciation and excoriation of anyone who deigns to normalize dehumanization is essential.
4. Remaining human. Remembering truth and beauty and goodness. Knowing that life is shared by all human beings. Standing in solidarity with those who are seen as inferior and, therefore, worthy of nothing but death. Embracing life as a force of growth and expansion for humanity, not as the privilege of a select few.
Clarity, not unity, is the order of the day. The forces of darkness defend themselves through endless distractions and amplifications. No need to fight them or convince them. Just to remember they are dancing their "danse macabre". Life is the opposite of death.
