The very, very bad news for Australia in America’s new ‘National Security Strategy’ paper needs to be pointed out.
It says: America will “counter hostile and subversive influences” (China) and will “press” on allies like Australia to increase their militaries and open more US bases, to confront ‘aggression’ with aggression.
All of this is aiming to keep the wars in the regions, and away from America’s homeland.
The first line in a future blockade and confrontation of China is Japan, Taiwan, Phillipines, Indonesia.
Australia’s main role is to support the first line, with US bases, facilities, bomber bases, subs bases, Marines base, spy bases, and as an operational supply hub. Plus a few planes like the F-35s and AUKUS subs, if they are ready.
Quotes:
“This strategic clarity will allow the United States to counter hostile and subversive influences efficiently while avoiding the overextension and diffuse focus that undermined past efforts."
“We will build a military capable of denying aggression anywhere in the First Island Chain. But the American military cannot, and should not have to, do this alone.
“Our allies must step up and spend—and more importantly do—much more for collective defense.
“America’s diplomatic efforts should focus on pressing our First Island Chain allies and partners to allow the U.S. military greater access to their ports and other facilities, to spend more on their own defense, and most importantly to invest in capabilities aimed at deterring aggression.”
