Trump issues Thanksgiving rant filled with false claims about immigrants — announces “pause [to] migration from all Third World Countries”
Donald Trump used a Thanksgiving message to push sweeping, evidence-free claims about immigrants “murdering,” “carving up,” and destroying the United States. He asserts the U.S. has a “foreign population” of 53 million “mostly on welfare” or coming from prisons and gangs — a claim not supported by Census data or any law-enforcement evidence.
Research consistently shows immigrants, including undocumented ones, commit crimes at lower rates than U.S.-born citizens, contradicting Trump’s depiction of migrants as a primary source of violence.
Trump also claimed a migrant earning $30,000 receives $50,000 in benefits – a figure with no basis in federal budget data – and blamed immigration for “failed schools, high crime, urban decay, overcrowded hospitals, and deficits,” despite decades of studies showing immigrants strengthen the labor force and do not increase crime.
He pledged to “pause migration from all Third World Countries,” strip benefits from noncitizens, denaturalize people deemed insufficiently loyal, and launch mass deportations.
Many of these proposals contradict constitutional protections and existing federal law. Trump ended the message by suggesting millions of immigrants “hate, steal, murder” and “won’t be here for long.”
