The world is sleepwalking into an unprecedented period of global tyranny. Under pressure from a violent and lawless US regime, the UN Security Council, a body at the top of the international system, with largely unconstrained legislative and enforcement power, and not subject to judicial review or appeal, has gone rogue, acting ultra vires (outside the legitimate powers granted by the Charter) adopting a resolution that contravenes both the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the highest (peremptory) rules of international law, directly violating precisely the rights of the Palestinian people recently affirmed by the International Court of Justice, and perpetrating an act of complicity with the principal forces responsible for the occupation and genocide in Gaza (US &Israel). The terms of Res. 2803 are an affront to human rights and international law, and must be resisted and opposed at every stage. Members of the Council should move to revoke the resolution. If they are unable or unwilling, then the UNGA should convene under Uniting for Peace to adopt measures to mitigate the dangers of the resolution. The ICJ should be asked to issue an advisory opinion on this unlawful and ultra vires resolution. States must refuse to participate in its implementation in any way. And the people of the world should revolt against it, in every capital.
