We don't know what's going to happen with the US approach to Gaza. The Americans are the least reliable people on international issues.
What we can tell, with quite a lot of certainty, is that Israel's desires for Gaza will not come to pass:
* There won't be a massive ethnic cleansing operation
* There won't be a full extermination of the population through a fake 'military campaign' (the first in modern history designed specifically to erase an urban landscape completely)
* Gaza will not be annexed to Israel
* Jewish settlements will not be built in Gaza
Which means the last two years, in their entirety, have been a total waste and net damage as far as Zionism and Israel are concerned.
Not one of the strategic goals of Israel has been achieved anywhere (we'll have to see what toppling Assad means in the long run, if there is a long run for this). The strategic losses are staggering: Israel is basically a symbol of disgust for every Western population, including the American. Every day it gets worse, and just wait and see what happens when Gazans are free to talk to international press and researchers from all over.
Iran still stands strong, Yemen won't surrender, and Hezbollah has major destructive capabilities in its arsenal.
But Israel cannot relent of choose peace, and politically it is entangled in all kinds of constraints, prejudices and privileges to face its very serious problems in a cohesive manner.
It's a country built by the world and destroyed by the stupid shit it believes in.
War remains the only safe option for Israel, and war is what it will choose till it's brought down by humanity
