It is no coincidence that Trump’s 20-point Gaza proposal begins with the demand to transform Gaza into a “deradicalised terror-free zone,” and later calls for “changing mindsets and narratives” of Palestinians. This framing reveals the plan’s underlying colonial logic and the prioritization of its objectives. It is not merely a question of guaranteeing the Zionist entity's security, nor even of a “civilizing mission” that seeks to remake the native in its own cultural and political image. Rather, it aims to strip Palestinians of both the right and the will to resist. The ultimate objective behind deradicalisation and demilitarisation goes beyond disciplining a population and neutralizing an armed threat; it seeks their total pacification, dehumanizing them to the point that they are not simply more governable subjects but are denied subjecthood altogether and recast as non-actors whose continued survival is contingent on their permanent submission. But just as they failed to subdue the Palestinian people through genocide and ethnic cleansing, they will fail again to defeat a resistant spirit that has become a model for humanity.
