Here is the blunt truth. In 2023 and 2024 Israel fought a war while the entire planet watched it in 4K from above and from the ground. Satellites mapped every crater. Phone cameras caught every plume. Open source investigators geolocated strikes in minutes. And even with all that visibility the Israeli government still ran a campaign that UN investigators say includes war crimes and crimes against humanity like the use of starvation as a method of warfare. Multiple investigations detail the IDF using AI assisted systems like Lavender and the Gospel to mass generate human and infrastructure targets with minimal human review. Even scholars at West Point’s Lieber Institute describe them as decision support engines that scale target nomination. At scale you also scale error and civilian harm unless you slam the brakes. They did not.

If you think the legal system was asleep it was not. The International Criminal Court announced arrest warrants for Israel’s Prime Minister and Defense Minister for war crimes and crimes against humanity alongside warrants for Hamas leaders. Jurisdiction challenges were rejected. Whatever your politics that means there is enough evidence on the table to move forward in The Hague. That is a historic first for sitting Israeli leaders.

The white phosphorus story is simple. Human Rights Watch verified Israeli use in Gaza and across at least seventeen municipalities in south Lebanon including airbursts over populated areas which is unlawful because of predictable civilian harm. This is not a fog of war claim. It is tool by tool verification of munitions signatures in videos and photos. The tech says what the munition was and where it burned.

Lebanon is not a side note. UN and humanitarian reporting documented thousands of buildings damaged or destroyed across the south and deep into the country as strikes escalated. Back to Gaza and proportionality. When you hit a designated safe zone like al Mawasi with multiple 2,000 pound bombs you are not confused about the outcome. You have blast radius tables. You have ISR feeds. You have prior crater analysis. The result was mass casualties and international calls for a war crimes investigation. You cannot hide that in 2024 and 2025. There is video, there is metadata and there is a line of independent verifiers.
