When Beijing does the same, it’s coercion. Same tools. Different hands. Different morality. For years, America sanctioned, embargoed, blacklisted. Now China learns to do the same, and suddenly the free market has “died.” Maybe it never lived. The real story isn’t that China changed the rules. It’s that it mastered the West’s playbook, then played it better. They wanted a trade war. Now they’re shocked it’s two-way traffic. Empire nostalgia hurts most when the colonies start writing the rules. So yes, China is winning the trade war America wanted. Because for the first time, the empire of sanctions met a mirror and saw how ugly it looked. They taught China the game, then cried when it learned the rules.”
