Beware of "analysts" (Arnaud Bertrand in this case) selling you US-China "peace" based on obscure papers disconnected from reality.
Arnaud is waving around a RAND paper as if it is proof that there is some sort of "retreat" in US policy regarding encircling and containing China.
However, that is not how think tank papers work.
This RAND Corporation report, as you can see, was NOT commissioned by anyone inside the US government, but rather by Peter Richards as "busy work." It could be a personal project, or part of information operations.
Other RAND papers like "Extending Russia" which we can see with our own eyes has been implemented since, was sponsored by the US Army Quadrennial Defense Review Office.
See the difference?
None of this US-China paper's recommendations correspond to the reality of actual US-Chinese relations/tensions or the obvious course US policy is on regarding its ongoing campaign to encircle and contain China.
Yes, we'd all want to believe the US will come to its senses. But there is ZERO evidence that is the case, no matter how much we wish otherwise.
In fact, all evidence suggests otherwise.
As snake oil salesmen claim a US "retreat" from confrontation with China, the US is still waging a proxy war against Russia servicing its larger agenda of cutting off Russia from China, expanding its military industrial production for war with China specifically, enlarging its Asia-Pacific military footprint, converting nations into Ukraine-style proxies along China's periphery, just overthrew the government of Nepal on China's doorstep, continue with sanctions, tariffs and other measures to strangle the Chinese economy with non-military means while developing the geographical and maritime positions as well as the means to strangle China's economy outright with a military blockade.
That is reality.
Real analysis is about what is REALLY happening, not what we wish was happening. Real analysts will tell people what is REALLY happening, not what they think people want to hear and what will keep those subs/likes/$$$/clout rolling in.
If you're wondering why I don't just debate Arnaud directly - he blocked me after I pointed out to him obvious and extensive US interference in Nepal recently. Not only did he refuse to debate, he maliciously lied about the information I presented.
Now Nepal's interim gov is run openly by US NED-funded agitators - and he's simply moved on to other topics to misinform his audience about.
