A new poll from an opposition-aligned agency reveals that only 3% of Venezuelans support U.S. military action against their country.
Opposition leader, Maria Corina Machado, who was recently awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, has sparked widespread anger by calling for American boots on the ground to remove Maduro from power.
The poll comes as the US prepares for a potential attack on the Caribbean nation, who has been ruled by a socialist government since the election of Hugo Chavez in 1998.
Millions of Venezuelans have volunteered for civilian-military militias to defend their government and country, raising the prospect of any action turning into another Vietnam for the U.S.
