You speak as if your ballot box is the measure of human freedom.
As if Vietnam, Cuba, or China are students who failed your exam.
But tell me.
Who gave you the authority to grade civilizations?
Was it democracy?
Or was it the centuries of empire that taught you to think your institutions are the only ones fit for humanity?
You call Vietnam "undemocratic."
Yet your "democracy" dropped more bombs on us than were dropped in all of World War II.
Your "democracy" strangled Cuba for 63 years with sanctions and still call itself the defender of liberty.
Your "democracy" surrounds China with bases, threaten war, and then pretends to be the guardian of peace.
If that is democracy, then democracy is nothing but the mask empire wears when it burns villages and starves nations.
Vietnam did not kneel to your definition of freedom.
We bled for a freedom you cannot imagine.
The freedom to exist without a master.
We rebuilt from the ashes of your bombs without borrowing your script.
We chose sovereignty over applause from the West.
And what makes you think your system is superior to ours?
Is it Western paternalism, the missionary’s urge to "civilize" others with the very tools of domination?
Or is it the white savior’s faith that the ballot you cast in Washington gives you the right to dictate how Asia must live?
Vietnam is not waiting for your approval.
We do not need a stamp of "democratic" from the very powers that tried to erase us.
We buried every empire that called itself our teacher.
And we will bury the arrogance that still pretends to lecture us today.
Your democracy is nothing but the right to invade, to plunder, and to lecture the survivors.
You can keep it.
We will keep our independence.
We will keep our sovereignty.
We will keep our freedom.
Not the freedom to vote for the next warmonger in line.
But the freedom to stand whole.
To stand undefeated.
To stand beyond the reach of your empire’s approval.
