WESTERN COUP ATTEMPT IN GEORGIA
Georgian authorities have accused foreign intelligence services of trying to orchestrate protests with the goal of toppling the government, just as they did in Ukraine with Yanukovich.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated:
“The Ukrainian Maidan was financed by foreign intelligence services. The same is happening in Georgia, but we will not allow a repeat of that scenario.”
The ruling party Georgian Dream has repeatedly warned that its opponents are preparing a “Ukrainian scenario” for Georgia, using the war in Ukraine as a central theme in its political messaging.
Officials also say that Western countries have privately promised to supply Georgia with weapons but only if Tbilisi agreed to open a “second front” against Russia.
