BREAKING — U.S. Vetoes Gaza Ceasefire Resolution For ‘Failing’ To Adequately ‘Condemn Hamas’
The United States has again vetoed a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the release of captives — its sixth veto since the war began.
➤ All 14 other council members voted in favor. The resolution called Gaza’s situation “catastrophic” and urged Israel to lift all restrictions on aid.
➤ U.S. adviser Morgan Ortagus stated before the vote:
“Colleagues, US opposition to this resolution will come as no surprise. It fails to condemn Hamas or recognize Israel’s right to defend itself, and it wrongly legitimizes the false narratives benefiting Hamas, which have sadly found currency in this council.”
She added that council members “ignored” U.S. warnings about “unacceptable” language.
➤ Algeria, a lead sponsor, expressed “dismay” at yet another failure to act and apologized to Palestinians for not doing enough to save civilian lives.
