The Trump-Netanyahu Gaza Ceasefire Announcement Is Another Trick…
The takeaways here are that the Iran War is close & there is a total rejection of Palestinian Statehood.
Not only has Hamas not been presented with any proposal, the PA has been sidelined. Meaning this is a counter to the European-Saudi initiative, outlined in the recently adopted UN ‘New York Declaration’ that pushes for Palestinian Statehood.
Europe’s proposal would be a get out of jail free card for Israel & also demands total demilitarisation of Gaza, yet the prospect of the PA taking over at least makes it somewhat logical & the end goal is clearly a “two-State solution” [although the State they advocate for is just a collection of demilitarised bantustans who are under defacto Western control, with democracy banned]
What we can take from Trump’s vague waffling, the “21 point plan” & other details leaked to the media, is that this is not a serious proposal.
A serious proposal would have been presented to Hamas first, before being publicly announced in this way; as a threat. Israel claims it has agreed to the deal, yet there’s no detailed plan that would pave the way to making all the major points work, including reconstruction, how disarmament would work, aid distribution, how long Israel would take to withdraw etc.
Also, they say all Israeli captives will be returned in 72 hours. So what is there then in place to stop Israel from simply violating the agreement again, as they did earlier this year, when we had a much more detailed and phased ceasefire?
Addressing every point would be useless right now however, as this isn’t about “peace” or even a ceasefire, as on the ground the Israeli tanks are inside Gaza City.
It’s a public declaration that Israel & the US will defy the path to any Palestinian State, however small, instead they will continue down the road of total annihilation of all their opposition.
Israel & the US, according to multiple sources across the region, are anticipated to be preparing major assaults in Iran & Lebanon. They seek to deal serious blows to both Hezbollah & the IRGC, aiming at ultimately achieving regime change in Tehran as their preferred end outcome.
This is a regional war, Gaza is only one of the fronts. Beyond the press conference being a public display of an awkward affair love affair between Trump & Israel, it is a warning of what is to come.
Note that over the past few days, all kinds of anonymous sources have been claiming to the Israeli media that Trump has been pressuring Israel & is fed up etc. all of this is the same nonsense about a mythical 2-year behind the scenes Israeli-US battle that has never happened.
The same exact propaganda was spread all throughout the Biden administration, with Biden himself even giving meaningless speeches declaring ceasefire proposals that were only followed by more massacres.
We are about to see something big. The only question is who throws the first punch. Historically the Israelis have always been the ones to initiate.
