Israel has been a laboratory for technologies of surveillance and subjugation used against Muslim populations. Those technologies are now ubiquitous. Next, Israel will seek to export its politics—an unchecked executive, a militarized society, a racial and religious hierarchy. The issue isn't that Israel has become illiberal. The issue is Israel's capacity to accelerate the illiberal turn in Western democracies that are beginning to embrace demagoguery.
