The IDF understands that from a military perspective, the "Gideon's Chariots" operation was a complete failure. According to internal IDF documents obtained by Channel 12, these are the reasons, according to their analysis: 1) Israel made every possible mistake by fighting contrary to its doctrine, which usually involves clear goals and quick resolution. The document points out that Israel’s typical military approach focuses on well-defined objectives and wrapping up conflicts swiftly to minimize prolonged fighting. In this case, the operation lacked those clear goals or failed to move quickly enough to achieve them. Without sharp focus and speed, the campaign dragged on, losing momentum and allowing Hamas to regroup. 2) Hamas had all the conditions to survive and even win. Despite Israel’s efforts, Hamas maintained enough supplies, shelter, and tactical advantages to endure the offensive. This resilience undercut Israel’s aim of quickly ending Hamas’s control. 3) Key goals were not met — Hamas wasn’t defeated, and hostages weren’t returned The operation fell short of its main objectives: defeating Hamas militarily and securing the release of hostages. Neither was accomplished by force or negotiation. 4) Israel unintentionally supplied resources to Hamas Failures in controlling supply lines or aid distribution meant Hamas received resources that helped sustain their defense, unintentionally strengthening the enemy. 5) Israeli forces were worn down due to poor and inefficient deployment. Over time, troops became fatigued, with casualties and equipment wear reducing their ability to keep up the offensive pressure. 6) Israel lost international credibility The operation’s conduct triggered international criticism, damaging Israel’s diplomatic standing and complicating future political maneuvering. 7) Poor planning and execution of humanitarian aid, which ended up harming people instead of helping The document highlights that the humanitarian aid distribution was so badly managed that it didn’t just fail to feed people—it actually caused deaths. Mismanagement and delays meant that critical supplies didn’t reach those in need on time, leading to starvation and worsening the humanitarian crisis. This failure not only caused needless suffering but also damaged Israel’s image and complicated the military operation. 8) Forces repeatedly operated in the same areas—sometimes up to seven times—but were ordered not to hold them. The IDF kept cycling through the same zones over and over, at times hitting a single area as many as seven times. Despite this heavy focus, troops were instructed not to establish control or hold those positions. This approach made the operations predictable and gave Hamas room to rebuild defenses and prepare ambushes. It also drained Israeli resources and morale, as constant back-and-forth fighting without securing territory meant gains were temporary and costly. The IDF is not being deployed in a way that would allow it to defeat Hamas. Instead, it is used in a way designed to make the war last for as long as possible while causing massive damage to civilian infrastructure. From a purely military perspective, nothing the IDF is doing makes any sense. This is a political operation and a genocidal one.
