Journalist George Canawati, a son of Bethlehem, wrote:
In his speech at the United Nations, Benjamin Netanyahu said:
“Since the Palestinian Authority took over, the percentage of Christians in Bethlehem has dropped from 80% to 20%.”
But the truth is known to every Christian and every Palestinian in this land:
It was the Israeli occupation that stole Bethlehem’s lands, built a wall that isolates it, strangled it with checkpoints, and denied its people freedom of movement and worship.
It was the occupation that besieged the Church of the Nativity with tanks, destroyed churches, killed worshippers, besieged Gaza and other Palestinian cities, and denied religious freedom.
So what logic is there in someone who committed all these crimes speaking of “Christian migration,” when the roots of that migration lie in his own colonial policies?
And the one who now claims to defend Christianity is the very same who crucified Jesus Christ, glory be to Him, and continues to lash His people to this day.
