⚖️ BREAKING: Israel’s Supreme Court has ruled that the government is starving Palestinian prisoners, ordering authorities to improve nutrition after finding “real doubts” inmates were receiving enough food to meet conditions of “basic subsistence.” The state is legally obligated to provide prisoners with enough food to ensure “a basic level of existence,” they said, and in a 2-1 ruling found that there were “indications that the current food supply to prisoners does not sufficiently guarantee compliance with the legal standard.” The case was brought by the Association for Civil Rights in Israel and Gisha after food policy changes left prisoners malnourished, with a 17-year-old child dying of starvation in March. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who has boasted of cutting prisoner conditions to the “bare minimum,” lashed out at the verdict and vowed the policy of providing only “the most minimal conditions” would continue. ACRI said prisons have become “torture camps,” adding: “A state does not starve people. People do not starve people.”
