Then explain Nagasaki. Explain why, three days after Hiroshima, after the world had witnessed nuclear fire, and as Japan was already seeking terms of surrender, they still dropped a second bomb.

Then explain Nagasaki. Explain why, three days after Hiroshima, after the world had witnessed nuclear fire, and as Japan was already seeking terms of surrender, they still dropped a second bomb. Explain why they couldn’t wait longer than 72 hours before turning civilians into data. Explain why they didn’t wait for a response. Explain why they chose a Catholic city. Explain why they chose the only major port untouched by firebombing, just to study the pure effects. You say Berlin was already taken? Exactly. That’s why they didn’t nuke Berlin. They didn’t need to. They needed a stage. A test site. A spectacle. And to them, our skin was canvas. Our cities were laboratories. Our children were metrics. Hiroshima wasn’t the end of war. It was the opening ceremony of the American empire. And Nagasaki? Nagasaki was proof it wasn’t a necessity. It was a message.

Tbf, the Germans have already surrendered by May. If China/Russia/American had taken Tokyo like the Russians took Berlin by May and the Japanese surrendered, the bomb would not have been dropped. Up until May 1945, Allies bombing had killed more Germans than Japanese.
