September will mark the one-year deadline set by the UNGA for Israeli accountability before further measures are imposed. This week’s UN conference on 2 states and the belated recognition of Palestine by a few Western states are part of an effort to return to the cruel status quo ante (Oslo-ism), to buttress Israel and Zionism, and to ensure the Israeli regime’s continued impunity.

They are a cynical response to public outrage at Israeli apartheid & genocide, and an effort to derail the growing movement for Israeli accountability and Palestinian human rights (ICC, ICJ, UN rapporteurs, human rights orgs, social movements, etc.).
